Campaign to save free thinkers

Free Thoughts:

Dear all, a Tunisian secularist and rationalist free thinker, Lafif Lakhdar, has his life endangered by a death fatwa issued against him by an Islamist cleric living in the London. I'll keep you posted about the latest developments of this case. You might do the same, by putting all the info I'll be sending you, on your blogs, if you have one,so to help save the life of a person who has only expressed his own opinions. What has Lafif done to provoke the cleric's ire so much? He has : 1) wrote a book on Mohammed, considered "critical of the Islam's prophet" 2) been promoting Secularism, Separation of religion and state 3) called for an end to mysoginy and discrimination against women, gays and lesbians 4) called for an end to discrimination and violence against non-Muslims and, 5) said that it's high time to modernize the Islamic world and religion and vowed to fight obscurantism, the same way Galileo did with respect to the totalitarian and obscurantist power of the Middle Eve's Church I think that , if we join our voices and campaign for his safety, we can make the difference. We should contact: Amnesty International, Reporters Without Borders, Human Rights Watch,Pen International,Lawyers without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists and let them know about him so that they can start an international campaign. We also might write petitions or contact the media and send faxes or letters to the governments of UK and France This campaign also aims to put an end to the "freedom" of Islamists to issue fatwas against free thinkers Not only this campaign will help Lafif, but it'll help save the lives of people like Salman Rushdie,Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Geert Wilders, and many Iranian secularists living in Europe or elsewhere.
