Iranian Students News Agency chief in court once again

Payvand:

Tehran, Aug 13, IRNA-Upon receipt of a notice from court, Managing Director of the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) Abolfazl Fateh on Saturday attended the Investigation Bench 6 of Government Employees Court in Tehran and responded to the questions raised by Judge Eslami.

Fateh's lawyer, Ali-Reza Mashadizadeh, told IRNA that the ISNA managing director is summoned to court to respond to three charges raised against him, of which two belonged to the prosecutor general.

"Reflecting the remarks of Akbar Ganji's wife and publishing a statement issued by Iran's Journalists Association were two of the charges," added Mashadizadeh.

The lawyer, who was attending the court along with ISNA managing director, referred to the approach of Bench 6 and Judge Eslami as positive and said, "Given that dissemination of information has a wide scope in the Constitution, special focus is expected to be placed on investigation of the complaints on the activity of news agencies." Fateh had been summoned to Bench 8 of the Government Employees Judicial Complex last week, where he responded to the questions raised by Judge Dehqan.

He was called to court by the prosecutor general on charge of giving coverage to the remarks of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi which `disrupted public disorder', when at the end of the hearing, the judge issued a 100-million-rial bail.
