Man publicly hanged in northwest Iran

Tehran, Iran, Jul. 16 – A man accused of murder was publicly hanged in the town of Ardebil, northwest Iran, at dawn on Thursday, according to a state-run daily.

The daily Etemaad reported that Eyvazali Hosseinzadeh was hanged in public in the town’s Gaz Square foe killing a man in 1999.

Hosseinzadeh was himself from the nearby village of Hachakandi.

Iran’s official media have reported that at least 104 people have been executed or sentenced to death in the country since the start of January.
